"These small fabrications are not only meant to be worn on the body but they are also about the body’s microbiological forms."

Paul McClure

Paul McClure is an outstanding jewellery artist as well as an educator, mentor, writer and community arts activist. McClure’s jewellery interprets the body at the microscopic level to reflect our humanity in an era of medical advancement. His passion and focus comes from his experiences with friends and family battling life threatening diseases. Biology, pathology and genomics inspire his work and his aesthetic is derived from microscopic and anatomical views of the human body. Using familiar jewellery materials - such as gold, silver, pearls - he renders unfamiliar forms. The invisible becomes visible. His pieces convey ideas about our relationship with our bodies, gender subversion, and social mores surrounding disease and death.
