"When I design furniture, I develop ideas that will solve both functional concerns, which for me are paramount with furniture, as well as aesthetic ones that have to respond to the interior and the environment."

Peter Fleming

Peter Fleming is a highly respected designer who makes furniture for both client commissions and for exhibition. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Fleming is a graduate of the Sheridan College School of Craft and Design and of Humber College.

Fleming's work, primarily in wood with elements of cast and fabricated metal, stone and glass, is characterized by the juxtaposition of refined technique and unconventional form. It has received awards, can be found in corporate and private collections and has been exhibited across Canada and in the United States, China and Japan.

Over the past ten years Fleming has developed and taught courses in furniture design for two interior design programmes and is currently a part-time faculty member in the Furniture Programme of the School of Crafts and Design at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario.
